Magnetic objects are considered dangerous articles because they can interfere with some aircraft equipment, which puts flight safety at risk.

However, they can still be transported, provided they follow specific rules. The equipment must have up to 95 cm in size (adding length, width, and height) and each passenger can only transport 1 per flight. Items exceeding these measurements must be transported by Azul Cargo, the Azul front responsible for this type of cargo, with insurance and its own rules.

Remember: valuable or fragile items must be carried in your carry-on luggage, such as: money, negotiable papers, jewelry, banking, work or identification documents, keys, medications, and electronic equipment (computers, USB drives, media players, cameras, camcorders, cell phones, among others). Learn more about items for carry-on and personal luggage here.

Some sports and electronics equipment exceed the measurements of checked luggage and are classified as special luggage, with specific rules. Learn more about special luggage items here.

Azul may refuse luggage that jeopardizes the safety of the flight, the aircraft structure, or cannot be transported, such as:

  • Items that are outside the limits of measurement and weight;

  • Dangerous articles;

  • Live cargo;

  • Biological material (tissues, urine, water for tests, etc.);

  • Valuable objects (gold, silver, platinum, precious and semi-precious stones, money, checks, transportation vouchers, stocks, stamps, credit cards, electronics, "selfie stick", among others).

Frequently Asked Questions

The maximum value is 1,131 SDR (SDR = Special Drawing Rights), which is the indemnity limit. If the goods in your luggage exceed this value, Azul will not transport it.

To find out how much your luggage is worth in SDR currency, just convert the value of the item here on the Central Bank of Brazil's website.

If any item in your luggage exceeds the SDR value limit, contact Azul Cargo's customer service at (11) 4003-8399. This is the Azul front responsible for this type of transport, with insurance and its own rules.

There is a fixed fee of R$ 250.00 for cases of excess luggage. It is charged at the airport on the day of the flight and is valid for any destination operated by Azul.

The excess fee is only charged if the baggage exceeds 23kg.

Baggage must not exceed the maximum limit of 45kg for domestic flights/USA/Latin America and 32kg for Europe.

Azul offers free luggage check-in for babies between 0 and 2 years incomplete.

Some luggage can also be transported on board for free, without the need for check-in. They are:

· 1 aby stroller

· 1 car seat

· 1 baby comfort

In the case of a baby stroller, it must have specific measurements to be transported on board. It must be 35 cm long, 25 cm wide, and 55cm high (or a maximum of 115 cm adding all measurements). It also needs to weigh a maximum of 10kg. All other models must be checked in for free.

In the case of car seats or baby comfort, the baby will travel seated in the equipment, secured in the airplane seat with a specific safety belt. This service must be requested at least 48 hours in advance through our Customer Service. In addition, the equipment must also contain the FAA seal.

Important: for the transportation of baby luggage, the child will pay the fare as if they were over 2 years old, and the current discount will be applied under the travel conditions. If you need to take other items, they will be discounted from the luggage allowance of the parents or guardians.

You can check your wheelchair or other equipment you need for your mobility for free. It is also possible to transport it with you on board if you prefer.

But, attention, in some cases, there are some restrictions:

· Equipment powered by Lithium Ion or Metal Lithium battery: must be foldable and the batteries easily removed. The equipment is checked in and the batteries are taken in carry-on luggage, isolated, to prevent a short circuit on the aircraft. It is also necessary that it be a battery of up to 300Wh or two batteries of up to 160Wh each. In both cases, the batteries need to be installed in the wheelchair.

· Equipment powered by Non-Spillable battery with VRLA or AGM (Gel) technology: must be checked in turned off to prevent a short circuit on the aircraft, whether foldable or not. The maximum power must be 12V (AD03).· Spillable Battery: Azul does not transport.

· Batteries with corrosive liquids: Azul does not transport. The transport of gel-based batteries, AGM model batteries, and lithium in specific forms is authorized, as determined by Article 48 of Ordinance 676 of the Civil Aviation Department. So, non-removable batteries are checked in with the chair, while removable ones are transported in carry-on luggage and the chair is checked in separately.

· Azul Conecta flights: for safety reasons, the boarding of customers who use wheelchairs and need special descent or ascent equipment is not allowed.

Need help? Azul offers a differentiated service for those who need to move in a wheelchair, especially in these cases:

· I can walk, but I need a wheelchair just for long distances;

· I can walk, but I need assistance to climb stairs;

· I cannot walk and do not climb stairs.

You can request the help service when making your purchase on our website or app, at ou Customer Service, at the time of check-in, or even at the airport itself.

In these cases, we recommend that you access the website or contact the company directly to consult their rules and restrictions related to luggage.

If you want to know if you can transport an object or not, for example, you need to verify this information with the companies involved in your trip. If it is allowed in all, you must follow the rules of each one for transportation.
